LA–Mexican for dinner

After arriving in LA we transferred to our hotel the Baymont Inn and then Pam went out to checkout the area. She came back about an hour or so later having found a shop that basically sells everything for 99 cents. It sells fruit and vegetables and groceries and other things all 99c.

When we went out for dinner we walked past so I went to have a look as well – quite strange everything 99c – there is washing powder, main killers, drinks, beer, plasters, tooth paste, just everything at 99 cents.

Later we went to a little Mexican restaurant and had a great meal.

To start with we  were bought fresh corn chips and a bowl of limes and chilli. This was great and was probably enough but we ordered a main as well.

We each ordered a Mexican beer – I ordered a Pacifico and Pam ordered a Modelo. Mine has more flavour.

Each main was $10 + tax, the beer’s were $3.79 each

Later I ordered a margarita which was very nice and cheap at $3.50

Mararita

Overall about $32 + $4 tip

We felt very full after this and woddled back to the hotel.

Leaving New Zealand and Arriving in the USA

We had a long day ahead and it started with taking the cats and dogs to their new homes while we are away – top notch and cat habitat.

We got to the airport early about 4:40pm and our flight was not until 6:50pm.

Getting close to 6:30 they say our flight is delayed and that we should be going about 15 minutes late – so not too bad.

We ended up leaving about 7:05pm so 15 minutes was quite accurate.

We arrived at 8:05pm and the time we got outside Auckland domestic was about 8:20pm as we had to stand in the plane for ages while they tried to put a set of steps down to the tarmac.

Our flight was due to depart at 9:30pm from Auckland International which is in another location – a 10 minute walk.

We rushed along the 10 minute walk in about 5 minutes and as a result I got a sort of blister on the bottom of my foot. Quite painful.

We need not have rushed as this flight was delayed leaving 30 minutes.

The plane was full, every seat in economy was taken. The plane was very new and was painted in Black.

We arrived in LA and stood in the immigration queue for about 30 minutes which was not too bad.

Though customs and then we were standing outside of the airport terminal. I had to phone for our transfer to the Baymount hotel and the driver had just left the airport with another visitor. We sat down and waited until he returned which was about 30 minutes.

So now we are in LA. We are only staying here overnight before we catch another flight to New Orleans at 10:30am tomorrow. Time for some food.
